Freestyle Records is to release a new compilation anthology chronicling the work of veteran British organist Brian Auger. ‘Back To The Beginning: The Brian Auger Anthology’ will be available as a gatefold double vinyl, CD or digital album.

Now living in California the much lauded, sampled and covered Auger’s career spans over 50 years as an award winning musical innovator, jazz piano prodigy, ‘Swinging 60s’ London icon, early jazz fusionist, godfather of 'acid jazz' and 2014 Hammond Organ Hall of Fame Inductee.

This 24 song anthology covers those 50 years plus, from his poll winning jazz piano trio, classic and obscure tracks by Julie Driscoll & The Trinity, pioneering 70s jazz fusion outfit The Oblivion Express to rare tracks and new material. Also included is new material from a forthcoming ‘Live In Los Angeles’ album featuring original Oblivion Express vocalist Alex Ligertwood.

Release date is September 4. Brian Auger will tour the UK in early November.
