New Billie Holiday collection for centenary anniversary

Legacy Recordings is celebrating the 100th birthday of Billie Holiday by releasing ‘Billie Holiday: The Centennial Collection’, a newly curated anthology showcasing twenty of Lady Day’s finest recordings.

Billie Holiday is regarded as one of the most influential voices of the 20th Century, possessing a unique personal vocal style that had the ability to evoke emotions in the listener with a deep connection to blues. Born Eleanora Fagan on April 7th 1915 she became affectionately known as Lady Day and continues to make an impact on jazz and soul music today. Several tribute albums have already been released by some of the best contemporary jazz singers including José James and Cassandra Wilson. Pop star Rebecca Ferguson has also recorded a tribute called 'Lady Sings The Blues' and is set to perform at this year's Love Supreme Festival on Saturday 4th July.

'The Centennial Collection' represents recordings during the height of her career, from 1935-1945 with some of her most successful and beloved singles and is released March 31st.
