Pianist Neil Cowley has announced a new concept album with his Trio called ‘Spacebound Apes’, their first release in over two years.

Neil tells us it’s an exercise in atmosphere and emotion, taking in the themes of guilt, loss and longing with more to be revealed over the next few months. “It sounds a bit cryptic, but hopefully everyone will come along for the ride,” Cowley said. The Trio have added electronics into the mix courtesy of guitarist Leo Abrahams, known for his work with Brian Eno, Imogen Heap, Jarvis Cocker and Paul Simon. One track even includes a full choir.

'Spacebound Apes' is due for release on the 15th September, and Cowley has a date at London’s Union Chapel on the 27th of October, which will include a specially designed light show.
