Jazz singer Cécile McLorin Salvant bags Album Of The Year in prestigious Poll

Off the back of her recent Grammy nomination for 'Best Jazz Vocal Album' Cécile McLorin Salvant has landed the 62nd Annual Downbeat Magazine Critic's Poll 'Album Of The Year' award. Cecile's grasp of the traditions and style of the great jazz singers of the 20th century is astounding for a performer still in her twenties and has won her many plaudits and packed houses including recent dates at Ronnie Scotts where she was also webcast worldwide. 'Womanchild' is Cécile's second album and sees her deliver flawless versions of between the lines classic songs.

Pianist Marc Cary, who performed in April for Jazz FM at Hideaway in South London, also won an award in the same poll for 'Rising Star - Keyboards' although this year is his 20th as a professional musician during which he has recorded many solo albums as well as accompanist for Abbey Lincoln, Betty Carter and more.
