Miles and 'Trane Festival from Jazz at Lincoln Center
Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York are to honour the 90th birthday anniversaries of Miles Davis and John Coltrane from May 12th to 15th.
Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York are presenting their ‘Miles and Trane Festival’ to honour the 90th birthday anniversaries of Miles Davis and John Coltrane from May 12th to 15th.
The festival will begin with Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and Wynton Marsalis performing ‘Miles Davis: The Sorcerer at 90’ with new arrangements on classic Miles pieces.
Saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, son of John, will present ‘The Spiritual Side of Coltrane’ alongside saxophonist Joe Lovano, drummer Brian Blade, pianists Geri Allen and Steve Kuhn, trumpeter Tom Harrell and bassist and John Coltrane side man Reggie Workman.
Trumpeter Keyon Harrold, who has recently been touring with D’Angelo, will play his own tribute to Miles. Harrold is also the ghost trumpet player on film ‘Miles Ahead,’ starring Don Cheadle as Miles Davis.
