‘La La Land’ to be screened with live jazz orchestra

The Oscar-winning soundtrack of ‘La La Land’ is set to be performed live and toured across the world by a 60 piece jazz orchestra. The opening concerts will be conducted by the composer, Justin Hurwitz, at LA’s Hollywood Bowl on May 26th and 27th.

"The process is just beginning," Hurwitz told The Associated Press, "We're figuring out how to handle visually and musically the various music elements in the movie, and it's a lot of fun brainstorming ideas and solutions. What is exciting is to be able to really feature the musicians and show exactly what they're doing."

The show will include a 100-piece symphony orchestra, choir and jazz ensemble, along with the film's original vocal recordings from Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and John Legend.  The movie itself will play on a big screen behind the musicians as they play the score. 

Damien Chazelle, the writer and director of both ‘La La Land’ and ‘Whiplash’ will be recognised for his global impact on jazz music at this year’s Jazz FM Awards.
