Kamasi Washington Directing Debut at Sundance

Kamasi Washington has announced that he will premiere a new short film inspired by his acclaimed 2018 album Heaven and Earth at Sundance film festival later this month. The film is called As Told To G/D Thyself and is directed by a collective who call themselves Ummah Chroma, featuring Washington with directors Bradford Young (known for films such as Selma), Terence Nance (HBO’S ‘Random Acts of Flyness’), Jenn Nkiru (artist best known for Beyoncé and JAY-Z’s “APESHIT” video) and Marc Thomas (celebrated for short film Michael & Javier).
(The Sundance Film Festival takes place in Park City, Utah from January 24th to February 3rd)
The saxophone giant will also play his biggest solo UK show to date this year, performing his ‘Heaven and Earth’ show at the O2 Brixton Academy on March 5th.
