A new documentary film on Amy Winehouse called ’Amy’ is set for release on July 3rd. Unseen archive footage and recordings will feature.

The film, which has been in production for two years, is directed by Asif Kapadia who directed Bafta Award-winning film ‘Senna’ about Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna.

David Joseph, chairman and CEO of Universal Music UK, described it as, "a very complicated and tender movie. It tackles lots of things about family and media, fame, addiction, but most importantly, it captures the very heart of what she was about, which is an amazing person and a true musical genius."

Amy Winehouse died in 2011 aged 27 from alcohol poisoning.
