Saxophonist, band leader and educator Julian Argüelles is to release another album on October 12th. ‘Tetra’ follows on from his current 2015 release, Jazz FM favourite ‘Let It Be Told,’ a collection of uplifting South African compositions.

‘Tetra’ will feature his new band of the same name with Kit Downes on piano, bassist Sam Lasserson and James Maddren on drums and released on Michael Janisch's prolific Whirlwind Recordings..

Argüelles began with the legendary eclectic big band Loose Tubes who also release a new album this year. He was nominated for Best Album in the 2015 Parliamentary Jazz Awards for 2014’s ‘Circularity.’

Commenting on the new album he said, “The compositions for Tetra are amongst the most intricate I’ve written for a small group. Kit, Sam and James rise to the challenge of playing elaborately written music with an emotional depth.”
