Jonathan Batiste to lead the band on TV's The Late Show

TV personality Stephen Colbert, who succeeds David Letterman on The Late Show, has announced New Orleans jazz man Jon Batiste as house band leader.

Jazz musician Jon Batiste is to become the band leader on a major US network TV show. In September he joins Stephen Colbert who takes over from David Letterman on ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.’

Colbert said, “his music makes the audience feel so good, we may have to install a ‘Do Not Make Love’ sign.”

Batiste is a musician and educator from Kenner, a suburb of New Orleans, who has played internationally with his band Stay Human. His last album ‘Social Music’ reached number 1 in the Billboard Jazz Album chart. His live concerts are renowned for his ability to communicate with, and involve, the audience.
