Hollywood superstar actor Jeff Goldblum is set to release his debut jazz album. The star of films including ‘Jurassic Park’, ‘Independence Day’, ‘The Fly’ and ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ has been signed to Decca Records for the project. Jazz FM understands the album has already been recorded in front of a live audience and should see its release in the autumn.

Tom Lewis, Director of A&R for Decca said: “As far as I can tell, everyone loves Jeff Goldblum. It’s like a universal truth. We are delighted to welcome him to Decca. He’s a fantastic jazz pianist, a great band leader and just about the loveliest man in the world. His love of jazz is infectious and whenever he plays he makes you feel very happy. If we can take Jeff’s music into people’s homes then we will be helping, in our own small way, to make the world a happier place”

Goldblum played jazz piano in hotel lobbies as a teenager, and continues to host his own club night on Wednesdays in LA when he’s not working on location. He made headlines last year when he duetted with Gregory Porter live on the UK’s Graham Norton TV show.

His regular band is called ‘The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra’ named after an old family friend. They are set to tour the world including one show announced in the UK so far – an appearance at the EFG London Jazz Festival on Saturday 17 November at Cadogan Hall, with tickets on sale this Friday.
