Former Jazz Messenger, British-based American saxophonist Jean Toussaint, takes his ‘Roots and Herbs’ Art Blakey tribute project to Swansea’s Taliesin Arts Centre in Swansea University on Saturday February 6th with a super-strong British line-up.

Commemorating the life of the great Art Blakey twenty five years after his passing, Toussaint takes inspiration from his time with Blakey’s award winning Jazz Messengers. Borrowing the name of Blakey’s classic Blue Note Records recording he leads an all-star line-up of British Jazz Musicians to explore the music of the legendary bandleader and some of his illustrious Messengers.

“Art was one of the most inspirational band leaders rated amongst some of the greatest. Names like Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Miles Davis come to mind.” Toussaint said.
