JazzUK magazine closes

Jazz Services, a charitable organisation that supports and promotes British jazz musicians has announced the immediate closure of its magazine JazzUK.

The November 2014 issue, its 119th, will be the last. Jazz Services has been forced into an immediate restructuring and downsizing since losing £340,000 of Arts Council funding. This, together with the mounting challenge of publishing any printed magazine today made the closure inevitable. Last year Jazz Services’ costs for publishing JazzUK were nearly £140,000. 

JazzUK editor John Norbury-Lyons said, “It’s a shame to have to close the magazine in its current form after so many issues. It’s been a great way to communicate the amazing work done by so many of those involved in the UK’s jazz scene, as well as Jazz Services’ own activities.”
