Jazz, soul and blues musicians nominated at the 2020 Grammy's

Here's the short list of musicians in some of the specialist categories for the world's biggest music awards, the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards!

The nominations are out for the 62nd Grammy Awards including a number of jazz, soul and blues artists on the list… Gary Clark Jr. has picked up four nominations for his album ‘This Land’, a politically charged project actively calling out racism in modern America. Bassist and singer Esperanza Spalding is nominated in the best arrangement category and her album ‘12 Little Spells’ is up for best jazz vocal album, where she’s alongside Jazzmeia Horn, Catherine Russell, Sara Gazarek and Tierney Sutton. Saxophonist Branford Marsalis and bassist Christian McBride are both up for best-improvised jazz solo and best jazz instrumental album, they’re up against Joey DeFrancesco, Brad Mehldau and Joshua Redman. Chick Corea is nominated for best Latin Jazz album and Britain’s own Jacob Collier has two nominations this time for his arrangements on the current Djesse album, and finally ‘Birth of the Cool’ - the recent Miles Davis documentary - is up for best music film.

The 62nd Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday 26th January 2020, with winners being announced from 1 am (GMT).
