Jazz FM's Ian Shaw announces new album with Iain Ballamy and Jamie Safir

Jazz FM presenter and singer Ian Shaw has announced a new album 'What's New?'. The new collaborative work sees the singer team up with legendary saxophonist Iain Ballamy and the in-demand pianist Jamie Safir.

The trio decided to focus on the sonic and emotional connection between vocals and the instruments, working with space to stretch out the creative process.

'What's New?' features new arrangements of classic pop songs, what Ian calls mini-masterpieces, including 'Prelude to a Kiss', 'Some Other Time', 'Alfie' and 'Come Sunday'.

"The album recording is important to me for various reasons," says Ian. It's a "return to how it all started...a discovery of the art of the great popular song... this feels like one of the truest records I have ever recorded".

The album will be released next Friday, the 7th of February, via Silent Wish Records.
