Jazz FM returns to national DAB
Wider national coverage, pioneering technology and stereo listening for Jazz FM listeners from February 29th 2016.
Jazz FM is returning to national DAB radio on 29th February. This means the World's greatest jazz, blues and soul will be available across all platforms in stereo – DAB, DTV, online and mobile.
Jazz FM is innovating again by becoming one of the first brands to broadcast nationally using the latest DAB+ technology. As a launch station on the new Sound Digital multiplex, this development comes only months after the ground breaking collaboration with BBC Music creating the pop-up national Jazz DAB station in November 2015.
DAB+ uses less bandwidth for higher quality audio and is already the new standard in many countries around the world and will increasingly be adopted in the UK.Â
Jazz FM's CEO Jonathan Arendt says, “Jazz FM will become instantly available to over 6 million new cars now fitted with DAB+ as standard. We are committed to broadcasting in high quality stereo across all platforms and are delighted to be at the forefront of digital radio technology in the UK."
Content Director Nick Pitts says, "We've made no secret that we would be back on national DAB. Our broadcasters are incredibly excited with the news of wider DAB coverage and the sure knowledge that listeners will be able to hear music the way it was created, wherever they listen."
The station will continue to broadcast on DAB in London on the London 2 multiplex also.
