Jazz At Lincoln Centre announces benefit concert for cancer research
New York's Jazz At Lincoln Centre has announced a benefit concert for cancer research in memory of saxophonist Michael Brecker.
Jazz At Lincoln Centre in New York City has announced a benefit concert for cancer research in memory of 15 time Grammy Award winning saxophonist Michael Brecker who died from cancer in 2007 aged 57.
The event called ‘The Nearness of You’, named after Hoagy Carmichael’s jazz standard will take place on January 20th and will feature star names including Paul Simon, James Taylor and Bobby McFerrin.
Australian actors Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness are co-chairs of the concert which will be hosted by American journalist and talk show show host Meredith Viera.
Proceeds from the concert will support cancer research at Columbia University Medical Centre.
