Jason Rebello to host an intimate night in Wood Green

World-class British pianist and composer Jason Rebello returns to London for a Caramel in Wood Green on Wednesday 9th December. After performing around the world Rebello is back in the UK for a one off intimate event featuring an open Q&A to kick off his UK tour. His band will feature Troy Miller on drums, producer of the recent Billie Holiday tribute album from Rebecca Ferguson, and Karl Rasheed-Abel on bass, who has played with Laura Mvula, Soweto Kinch and Courtney Pine. Former Music Director for Amy Winehouse, Xantoné Blacq will be the vocalist for some songs.

Classically trained but inspired by Herbie Hancock, Jason Rebello first came to the attention of one of the founders of jazz fusion, Weather Report’s saxophonist Wayne Shorter in the early 1990’s. He was one of the forerunners of the modern jazz resurgence of that period and was quickly signed to a major record label. Respect for Jason’s musicianship, technique, diversity and adaptability have enabled him to work with artists across the musical spectrum such as Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Pee Wee Ellis, Joss Stone, Madeline Peyroux, Manu Katche, Charlene Soraia, Jeff Beck and Sting.

In 2007 inspired by family life in Bath, he embarked on the Jazz Rainbow project. Created as through of a love of teaching and a belief that expression through music is an important part of a child's development, Jason has worked nationally to promote learning through musical workshops in schools. The project resulted in the Jazz Rainbow album a charming reinvention of much loved children's tunes the whole family could enjoy. He continues to teach and examine, lecturing at various schools and music colleges including The Guildhall School of Music, The Royal Northern College of Music, The Welsh National College of Music and Bath Spa University. Helping to establish the Jazz Factory at the Wiltshire Music Centre, he also runs workshops and master classes at Jazz Festivals both in the UK and Europe.
