Jazz FM and Brooklyn Bowl present the James Taylor Quartet on Friday 13th November 2015.

James Taylor, one of the great British instrumentalists of his generation and an architect of the so-called Acid Jazz genre in the late 1980s, has taken his trademark howling Hammond sound to the masses for over 25 years.

JTQ’s energetic blend of boogaloo, 60s and 70s style soul jazz, gospel and funk are legendary and he shows no sign of slowing down. Taylor is known for his dancefloor charged take on the the from cop show Starsky and Hutch and collaborations with some of the UK’s top soulful vocalists including Noel McKoy and John Turrell and more. In late november he launches a bold new choral project ‘A Rochester Mass,’ a collaboration with the 40 strong choir of Rochester Cathedral with his band JTQ at the core.

Support for the Brooklyn Bowl date comes from acclaimed eight piece band Crowd Company, whose sound is a modern take on raw and edgy vintage funk. The venue is located inside London’s O2 on the North Greenwich penninsular and hosts an unprecedented combination of top-flight music, craft beer, vibrant new world wines, bowling, and critically-celebrated comfort food served up in an unique atmospheric setting modelled after its Big Apple counterpart.
