Vinyl only label Gearbox Records are releasing a live album by 'acid-jazz' kings James Taylor Quartet, recorded in March 2015. JTQ played a six date sell-out run and by the time the recording began on Friday 25th March they were at their performance peak.

This was a stripped-down band without horns or percussion, just James Taylor on Hammond C3, guitarist Mark Cox, bassist Andrew McKinney and drummer Pat Illingworth, a line-up now solid for over three years. There was no set list either, the band preferring just watch the audience, see how the music connects and take it from there. The songs that made the final cut are from the source - Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff, Joe Sample and Gene Ammons.

‘Bumpin’ On Frith Street’ is a JTQ’s own tribute to Soho, the home of Ronnie Scott’s and ground zero of UK Jazz music and is released April 1st on 12” 180 gram vinyl LP which includes free download code.
