ITV2’s new comedy-drama ‘Timewasters’ promises to tear apart the ‘Downton Abbey’ style image of 1920’s jazz, when four young black Londoners accidentally travel there from 2017.

Kadiff Kirwan, Adelayo Adedayo, Samson Kayo and Daniel Lawrence Taylor (who also co-wrote the script), play Jason, Lauren, Horace and Nick – members of a struggling jazz band who step into an elevator in their block of flats and find themselves stuck in the ‘roaring 20s’. Luckily they remembered to bring their instruments.

The series deliberately sets out to question and mock racial stereotypes, and uses music to emphasise the difference and development of UK black culture.
The first two episodes air tonight at 10pm on ITV2 with a preview below…
