Trumpeter Irvin Mayfield has succumbed to political pressure and resigned as artistic director of the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. The Grammy award winning musician and entrepreneur has been under increasing scrutiny for the mingling of Orchestra finances with money from the charity supporting the city's library system. Earlier this year, the Orchestra was forced to repay around half of the reallocated funds, to the tune of $483,000.

Wynton Marsalis is among those sitting as co-chairs during the transition.
