New Orleans’ Hot 8 Brass Band have unveiled their fifth studio album, released on the 31st march on the Tru Thoughts Record Label. It’s called ‘On The Spot’ which is a reference to big band parade moments (where the music has officially stopped, but the musicians keep improvising anyway). The album includes some new material and some famous tunes like ‘St. James Infirmary’ and a cover of Sade’s ‘Sweetest Taboo’. They’ll pay tribute to Natalie Cole with a version of ‘Annie Mae’ and include a version of Frankie Beverley and Maze ‘Working Together’ (see video below).
Hot 8 are embarking on a mammoth 53-night world tour, (including 19 venues across the UK). Their biggest ever UK concert will be at London’s Roundhouse – capacity 1700 – on Tuesday 4th April.
