Chicago trumpeter and Flugelhorn player Marquis Hill has won the prestigious Thelonius Monk Institute International Jazz Trumpet competition in Los Angeles during the weekend. Marquis' latest album ‘Modern Flows E.P Volume 1’ was introduced by Ruth Fisher and is currently being championed by Chris Philips on Jazz FM’s programme The Blueprint on Saturday nights.
