Grammy Hall of Fame inducts more classic jazz titles
Miles Davis’ ‘Miles Smiles’, John Coltrane’s ‘Lush Life’, and the 1956 classic ‘Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong’ and more included on this year's list.
The Grammy Hall of Fame has officially inducted 26 new titles including Miles Davis’ ‘Miles Smiles’, John Coltrane’s ‘Lush Life’, and the 1956 classic ‘Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong’ as well as Roberta Flack's 'First Take' from 1969 and Louis Armstrong's single 'What Did I Do To Be So Black And Blue.'
Also on the list this year is American singer, songwriter and guitarist Sister Rosetta Tharpe's 1939 single recording of the traditional 'This Train'. Rosetta Tharpe was popular in Britain as well as a huge influence on great names of Rock & Roll including Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley.
To qualify for selection, a recording must be at least 25 years old and “exhibit qualitative or historical significance,” This is the 43rd year of the annual list which totals just over 1000 recordings on display at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles.
