The 2017 GRAMMY Award winners announced

The 59th GRAMMY® Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Gregory Porter picked up the Best Vocal Jazz Album for 'Take Me To The Alley' making it his third award. Lalah Hathaway talked of her "labour of love'" as she won twice more in the Best Traditional R&B Performance for her song 'Angel' and Best R&B Album for 'Lalah Hathaway Live.'

William Bell, now entering his 60th year in music, lost out to Lalah in the Best Traditional R&B performance category, but won the Best Americana Album gong for his bluesy 'This is Where I Live.'

There was more success for the band Snarky Puppy with their third GRAMMY®, this time with 'Culcha Vulcha' in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album category.

Prodigious North London songwriter, multi instrumentalist and producer Jacob Collier received two awards, as did veteran guitarist John Scofield and there was recognition for legendary Cuban pianist Chucho Valdés and young American blues sensation Fantastic Negrito.

The event also paid tribute to recently lost icons Prince and David Bowie, the latter winning 5 posthumous awards for his final album 'Blackstar.' Impromptu tributes were also paid to multi GRAMMY® award-winning jazz vocalist Al Jarreau who died in Los Angeles on the morning of this year's awards.
