Good showing for jazz at the BBC Proms 2016

Quincy Jones, Jamie Cullum, US saxophonist sensation Kamasi Washington, Jacob Collier and The Metropole Orkest all set to perform.

The BBC Proms have announced their summer schedule, with a big emphasis on jazz this year.

The series, held predominantly at London’s Royal Albert Hall will include The National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland with Liane Carroll, saxophonist Kamasi Washington with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Jamie Cullum for a late show with full choir and Quincy Jones, who will appear with an all star cast – Richard Bona on bass, vocalist Jacob Collier, Australian trumpeter James Morrison and The Netherlands' Metropole Orkest, conducted by Jules Buckley.

Quincy was recently announced as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the forthcoming Jazz FM Awards on April 26th 2016.
