GoGo Penguin sign to Blue Note

Manchester based piano trio GoGo Penguin have signed to legendary jazz record label Blue Note Records for an album due early 2016.

Manchester based piano trio GoGo Penguin, confirmed for this year's Love Supreme Festival, have signed to legendary jazz record label Blue Note Records. The band were recently nominated for a Mercury Music Prize for their scond album ‘V2.0’ and will be performing live at Koko in Camden, North London, on June 12th. The show is expected to feature much of the new music from the Blue Note release due early 2016.

GoGo Penguin are pianist Chris Illingworth, bass player Nick Blacka and drummer Rob Turner and their music draws from many contemporary influences from electronic dance music to classical and in jazz most closely by the highly influential Esbjörn Svensson Trio who continue to be the standard-bearers fror European piano trios.

A spokeman for the band said, "We're really excited to sign with Blue Note, one of the world's most iconic record labels. We are blown away by their passion for our music and we're looking forward to working with them to help get our sounds out to as many people as possible”.
