Cloud-based file transfer service Wetransfer has announced the appointment of British DJ and producer Gilles Peterson to the role Creative Director.

Peterson will work on Wetransfer’s creative strategies with its marketing and editorial teams to develop their relationship with creative communities worldwide, curating live events, films and new music content.

Gilles’ first project utilises and builds on his experience and knowledge of Cuban culture to develop a series of short documentaries looking at how Cuban creatives have coped with very little technology and no internet access.

Peterson will work alongside Wetransfer’s Chief Marketing Officer Damian Bradfield who said, “every brand today is talking about being authentic – you can’t get more authentic than Gilles. He’s been curating contemporary music for as long as the tech industry can remember, with the energy and enthusiasm for new music of a 20-year-old”.

Joining Peterson will be Portrait and fashion photographer Rankin, creating exclusive images for the brand, beginning with a series of photographs from Cannes for a project called ‘The Real Cannes’.

Gilles Peterson said, “It’s an honour to be working with such a talented group of people who value originality and creativity as highly as I do. Talking about the music that I love in Cannes alongside such highly respected guest speakers was the perfect way to begin my relationship with WeTransfer.”

Gilles will be appearing at Love Supreme Festival in the Arena marquis on Saturday July 2nd with a night of DJ sets and live music including young Cuban vocalist Dayme Arocena. See full details at lovesupremefestival.com.
