The world famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London has announced the lineup for its fifth International Piano Trio Festival, taking place from 29 July to 5 August 2018. Renowned keyboard player and YES band member Rick Wakeman will play for the first time in an acoustic trio whilst jazz legend Chick Corea reunites with bassist John Patitucci and drummer Dave Weckl for the first time in 20 years in their Akoustic Band.

Grammy award winning British pianist and Snarky Puppy founder-member Bill Laurance will debut his acoustic trio on the Friday, while Cuban star Roberto Fonseca will headline on Saturday and Sunday nights. Other artists on the bill include Peter Edwards, Jessica Lauren, LRK, Kit Downes and Janette Mason.

There will also be a special festival event on Wednesday 1 August, where attendees can learn more about The History of Jazz Piano. Ronnie Scott’s house pianist and Artistic Director James Pearson says he’ll take the audience on a whistle-stop journey through the last 100 years, exploring the movements, styles and key figures of jazz piano.
