Brecon Jazz Festival line-up announced

Grammy Award-winning pianist Robert Glasper, New Orleans legend Dr John and doyen of vocal jazz Gregory Porter all included.

Brecon Jazz Festival has announced the first names in this year’s line-up. The festival takes place from 7th to 9th August and includes pianist Robert Glasper, Dr John and doyen of vocal jazz Gregory Porter.

Glasper will play new material from his June Blue Note album release ‘Covered’ with his former trio including bassist Vicente Archer and drummer Damion Reid. Phronesis and GoGo Penguin will appear and British saxophonist Courtney Pine will play bass clarinet in a duo with pianist Zoe Rahman at Brecon Cathedral. Parliamentary Award Jazz Vocalist Of The Year Norma Winstone is also confirmed.

A highlight of the festival will be Neil Cowley’s personal musical tribute to British comedian Dudley Moore setting out to show what a talented and passionate jazz pianist  Dudley was as well as his effortless comedic ability.  

A heavy weigh jazz duo featuring American pianist Kenny Barron and bassist Dave Holland will showcase their recent album ‘The Art Of Conversation’.
