The Blues Hall Of Fame was founded in 1980 and has inducted and honoured dozens of musicians. An award ceremony has always followed the annual inductions which have included Bessie Smith, Robert Johnson and Lightning Hopkins, joined this year by Eric Clapton and Little Richard.

Strangely though, the organisation has never had any actual bricks and mortar until now. The Foundation raised nearly $3 million and has now finally opened the Blues Hall of Fame in Memphis.

The new museum contains clothing, paintings, records and magazines and more with an interactive database with biographies, photos, videos, songs and album covers.
