Birmingham’s Mostly Jazz Festival back for its 10th edition
The Jacksons, Burt Bacharach and Brian Jackson are among this year’s headliners
The team behind the Mostly Jazz, Funk & Soul Festival say that 2019 will be “their biggest programme of entertainment yet” as they celebrate ten years of the event in the surroundings of Mosely Park, just south of Birmingham city centre.
Running 12th to 14th July this year, The Jacksons will be headlining Friday night alongside West African funk outfit Ibibio Sound Machine and UK brass bands Young Pilgrim’s and the Renegade Brass Band. Brian Jackson (who collaborated with Gil-Scott Heron on 8 albums) and The Brand New Heavies headline on Saturday night, and songwriting legend 90-year old Burt Bacharach is there on Sunday night.
The festival’s John Fell says “For the 10-year anniversary we wanted to make sure we delivered something really special. To have The Jacksons, Burt Bacharach and The Brand New Heavies (one of the most requested bands in an audience survey we did last year) heading to Moseley Park ensures we have our biggest line up to date and a real celebration for our anniversary. I'm delighted to have a strong mix of legends and contemporary artists. Can’t wait to hear Khruangbin playing on Sunday afternoon.”
