Blues legend B.B. King has had to cancel eight shows after taking a fall on stage on Friday night.

A statement at his official website reads, 'Mr. King fell ill last night, Oct 3 2014 during his performance at the House of Blues in Chicago. He was immediately evaluated by a doctor and diagnosed with dehydration and suffering from exhaustion whereby causing the eight remaining shows of his current tour to be cancelled.'

King was due to play dates including one at his own B.B. King Blues Club and Grill in Times Square New York, Fort Wayne, Charleston, Torrington, Rutland, Montclair and Munhall.

In April this year an erratic performance from the 89 year old saw his representatives issue an apology. "The combination of the rigors of the very long drive and high blood sugar due to his medication error resulted in a performance that did not match Mr. King's usual standard of excellence," the statement read. King has lived with Type II diabetes for two decades.”

Jazz FM wishes him well and a speedy recovery.
