Aretha rocks unsteady on breakfast TV
Aretha Franklin’s recent promotional American TV appearances made for uncomfortable viewing.
Pregnant pauses, technical delays and fatigue turned Aretha Franklin’s recent numerous promotional television appearances into an excruciating carnival of the uncomfortable. Never moving from her arm chair the ‘Queen Of Soul’ toured a relentless trail of American TV morning shows on the end of a latent video link. Fawning presenters with vague questions seemed to confuse Aretha who clearly had trouble hearing and finding answers for what was asked.
Miss Franklin was promoting her new album ‘Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics’, with her new take on contemporary and classic pop soul hits from Adele, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, Gloria Gaynor and more.
One comedy moment saw Aretha stumped by the term “mash-up”. In another she instructs the producers to turn her own song down while another news anchor nostalgically recalled her performing in his home town in Kansas, but that was news to Aretha!
