April is Jazz Appreciation Month

Smithsonian Institute's JAM sets out to add stimulus to the jazz scene, wherever it may be, and give encouragement to participation in jazz.

April is the Jazz Appreciation Month, conceived by The Smithsonian Institute in America and running since 2002.

The idea is to add stimulus to the jazz scene, wherever it may be, and give encouragement to participation in jazz. There’s no official way of doing this, although the SI does list wealth of suggestions which include attending a live jazz gig, sharing something on your social network, donating jazz recordings or books and listening to a jazz radio station! So join in by sharing jazz and Jazz FM with friends and family.

Jazz Appreciation Month coincidentally ends on International Jazz Day on April 30th, this year in host city Paris.
