All-female lineup for major new Royal Albert Hall season
The venue has announced a three month celebration of women onstage and backstage
A major new season at the Royal Albert Hall will celebrate the role of women in the venue’s storied history, featuring talks, films, comedy and jazz. Artistic Director Lucy Noble said “The Hall has been at the centre of British cultural life for nearly 150 years, and in that time has played host to an extraordinary number of remarkable women, whose talent, determination and vision has helped to shape the country – and the world – as we know it.”
Events will not only feature those on-stage but also back-stage, with exposure, talks and networking events for women who want to know more about the music industry, technical roles, show management, and operations – areas typically male-dominated up until now.
Their late night jazz series will include the all-female septet Nerija, singer Deelee Dubé and rising star trumpeter Emma-Jean Thackray. It all runs from January with full listings below…
