20 Years of Jazzwise Magazine
The UK’s biggest selling jazz magazine is celebrating with a week-long birthday party at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.
Jazzwise Magazine is turning 20 in the spring, and is celebrating with a week-long birthday party at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. Jon Newey, the editor, has curated a series of concerts including legendary British guitarist and bandleader John McLaughlin & the 4th Dimension, featuring keyboardist Gary Husband, bassist Étienne M'Bappé and drummer Ranjit Barot playing two rare club nights. Saxophonist and rapper Soweto Kinch appears with his young quartet, performing tracks from their new album ‘Nonagram’. Some of Britain’s brightest stars will shine with Julien Siegel’s Jazz Orchestra and Nick Smart’s Black Eyed Dog (who pay tribute to Nick Drake: an evocative interpretation of the legendary folk/jazz singer-songwriter). Tim Garland will perform ‘One’ which recently topped the Jazzwise Album of the Year critics poll, in a double bill with special guest Julian Argüelles.
Tickets are available via Ronnie Scott's website.
The news was announced in Jazzwise’s December / January double issue which is out now.
