As much of the UK celebrated the Summer Bank Holiday on 31st August, we broadcast a whole weekend celebrating soul music - Jazz FM's Soul Weekender.

Philip Bailey and Beverley Knight will present shows as part of Jazz FM's Soul Weekender

With nothing but soul and jazz funk, the entire day will also include a special schedule of guest presenters and curators to really bring the day and music to life, including once again the return of Jazz FM Legend and original member of the soul mafia from early soul weekender days Robbie Vincent.

Richard Searling also returns to the station with a two-hour playlist full of Northern Soul classics and listener memories while the UK’s only jazz, soul and blues station welcomes two legends of the genre to host two special shows – UK soul vocalist Beverley Knight and Earth Wind & Fire frontman Philip Bailey. And as a UK first, Jazz FM will team up with sister station radio Magic Soul where listeners to both of the brands can listen to the Beverley and Phillip shows, no matter which station they are tuned into.

Elsewhere this weekend, listen out for special soul-filled specials with Nigel Williams, YolanDa Brown, Chris Philips, Ruth Fisher, Jez Nelson and of course Jeff Young and John Osborne on Sunday.

Jazz FM's Soul Weekender - Monday 31st August - LISTEN

6am– Soul Breakfast, today with Simon Phillips as he wakes the nation including an hour of neo soul at 0900

10am – Robbie Vincent returns once again, live, with more funky rhythms and a special dance floor hour to really get into the Soul Weekender vibe

2pm– Afternoons with Anne Frankenstein, featuring special soul selections

6pm – Soul’s Greatest Voices with Beverley Knight. From Aretha to Stevie and all in between, Beverley plays music from some of the most memorable soul voices *

8pm – Luxury Laidback Soul with Philip Bailey, from his home in LA with some smooth soul vocals and instrumentals, plus some stories from on the road with one of the world’s biggest bands! *

10pm – Northern Soul Dancehall Party with Richard Searling BEM – the UK’s premier Northern Soul DJ and expert, featuring your memories of your Northern Soul party nights
