Guitar legend Carlos Santana collapsed on stage last night (5th July) during his open-air concert at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkson, Michigan.

The 74-year-old musician was 40 minutes into his concert when he stopped and fell to the floor on the stage.

Medical personal treated Santana at the venue before he was taken to hospital for observation.

A member of staff at the Pine Knob Music Theatre told the audience."Ladies and gentlemen, as you can see, we have a severe medical emergency.

"Let's share our prayers… We need it right now… Please send your light and love to this man."

Carlos Santana has since issued a statement on Facebook saying the collapse was caused by dehydration and he’s doing “good.”

“Thank you for your precious prayers,” Santa wrote. “Cindy and I we are good just taking it easy. Forgot to eat and drink water so I dehydrated and passed out. Blessings and miracles to you all.”

A representative for Carlos Santana has also issued a statement, which reads: "Carlos Santana was over-taken by heat exhaustion and dehydration during a concert Tuesday (July 5) evening in Michigan.

“The guitar great was taken from his show at Pine Knob Music Theatre (formerly DTE Energy Music Theatre), an outdoor amphitheater in Clarkston, some 40 miles northwest of Detroit, Michigan.

“Carlos was taken to the emergency department at McLaren Clarkston for observation and is doing well, it was announced by Santana's manager Michael Vrionis tonight."

As a result of his condition, Carlos Santana has postponed tonight’s concert at The Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania while he recuperates.

Carlos Santana was due to tour the UK in March 2020 but the dates were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
