The Brazilian trio Azymuth (not to be confused with the similarly named British jazz trio Azimiuth) epitomises the jazz-funk movement.

Azymuth: Group members

The group are still going strong since their beginnings in the 1970s, with the original members consisting of Jose Roberto Bertamin (keys), Alex Malheiros (bass and guitar) and Ivan "Mamo" Conti (drums).

Which is Azymuth's biggest song?

Their eponymous 1975 debut album led to the release of their hit 'Linha do Horizonte', but they are perhaps best remembered for their major hit single 'Jazz Carnival' released the following year.

What are Azymuth doing now?

After nearly 50 years, the group are still performing and recording as a group and independently, and are currently signed to the British indie label - Far Out Recordings - who specialise in showcasing Brazilian music.
