Jazz and Blues stars nominated at the 2025 Grammy Awards

The 2025 Grammy Nominations have been revealed over the weekend with another great showing for jazz, soul and blues artists including the UK’s own Jacob Collier who’s up for the prestigious Album of the Year prize. Other nominees include Lalah Hathaway who’s up for best Traditional R&B Performance and best R&B Album, Kurt Elling, Catherine Russell and Samara Joy are fighting it out in the best jazz vocal album category, while Cyrille Aimee, Norah Jones and Gregory Porter’s Christmas Wish project are all in the best traditional pop category. Instrumentalists honoured this year include trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire, legendary pianist Kenny Barron and saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin, plus two posthumous nods for Chick Corea.

In the blues categories, there’s a vibrant mix of traditional and contemporary sounds including Sue Foley’s One Guitar Woman, plus Swingin' Live At The Church In Tulsa by The Taj Mahal Sextet capturing his legendary live blues fusion. On the contemporary side, Joe Bonamassa’s Blues Deluxe Vol. 2 offers electrified blues is up against Shemekia Copeland’s Blame It On Eve.

Grammy stalwart Jon Batiste has also chalked up another 4 nominations, this time for his music movie ‘American Symphony’.

The ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on 2nd February.
