About Judith Owen
Judith Owen's musical roots run deep, growing up in a Welsh family immersed in classical music, ballet, theatre, and the fine arts. Her upbringing in London exposed her to the jazz icons and Broadway musicals cherished by her parents, which eventually became the signature sound she embodies today. With her unique blend of classical and jazz-influenced styles, Judith Owen earned a regular slot at the prestigious Ronnie Scotts venue.
Owen's latest endeavour, her 13th album titled "Come On & Get It", pays homage to the jazz music that captivated her during her childhood. Exploring the works of bold and trailblazing women such as Nellie Lutcher and Julia Lee, she dives into the musical and historical significance of these unsung chanteuses of the 40s and 50s. The album was recorded at the renowned Esplanade Studios in New Orleans, the city Owen now calls home. She enlisted an exceptional cast of musicians, including Jason Marsalis, Donald Harrison, Charlie Gabriel, Nicholas Payton, David Torkanowsky, Kevin Louis, Evan Christopher, Ricardo Pascal and more. The result is an album that radiates joy, upliftment and empowerment with The London Times hailing it as 'one of the most joyous releases of the year’.
