Jazz FM is proud to be a media partner of the UK’s biggest celebration of jazz music, the EFG London Jazz Festival.
Last updated 21st Oct 2024
The festival returns from 15th - 24th November, where across 10 days the very best jazz musicians will perform at a host of venues across London, from grassroot venues to iconic concert halls.
The EFG London Jazz Festival aims to support and celebrate the diverse world of jazz, supporting young emerging talent and welcoming global jazz icons.
The festival begins on Friday 15th November with a dazzling line-up of soloists performing at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall. Soloists include Marisa Monte, Damian Lewis, Carmen Lundy, Veronica Swift, Tony Momrelle, Cherise, Lucy-Anne Daniels, Kyra and IAMTHELIVING.
For the first time in its history, EFG London Jazz Festival has introduced The Jazz Social, a brand new pop-up venue that will serve as a festival hub and hangout. This brand-new space is located in Citypoint near the Barbican and offers a place to relax and catch special events throughout the festival week. This pop-up jazz cafe and bar will host in-store live music, special events, drinks deals, exclusive merchandise, live radio broadcasts and more.
The festival will celebrate legendary figures who have shaped the genre in the Icons strand, from artists such as Charles Tolliver to Meshell Ndgeocello, while Jazz Visionaries highlights those like Tania Giannouli & Nik Bartsch, Brandee Younger and Samora Pinderhughes. New Creations will bring fresh, original work to the stage, ranging from a big celebration of new sounds of South African jazz, Sikelela, to orchestral projects such as BBC Concert Orchestra celebrating John Coltrane’s legacy.
Homegrown focuses on the incredible talent emerging from the UK like Mark Kavuma, Amy Gadiaga, Olive Jones and Marla Kether, while Beyond Margins explores the intersections of jazz with other genres and art forms including projects by Dawn Richard and Spencer Zahn, Tashi Wada and MonoNeon.
Voices strand celebrates the power of vocal jazz; from the astonishing prowess of Veronica Swift to the mesmerising vocals of ganavya and Song Yi Jeon. Beyond Borders showcases music from all corners of the earth, celebrating unity with the power of music. Lastly, Celebrating the Jazz Clubs welcomes the intimate venues, independent promoters and city-wide communities that are the lifeblood of London’s jazz scene and are a key part of the festival programme.
The festival continues to offer a curated programme of free, un-ticketed events that anyone can enjoy, taking place each weekend of the Festival in the Barbican’s foyer and in the Southbank Centre’s Clore Ballroom.
