In celebration of St Patrick's Day on Friday 17th March 2023, research has been conducted by Spin Genie to provide information on the most popular Irish boys and girls names that parents decide for their children across England and Wales.
In recent years, names with Irish connections have seen a surge across the United Kingdom, with name such as Rory, Orla, Aoife, and Patrick surging through the ranks of popularity.
There were five names that have ties to Ireland or are of Irish origin given to girls in the Top 200, including Erin, Orla, Maeve, Niamh and Aoife, with Erin ranking highest at number 59.
There were 10 names that have ties to Ireland or are of Irish origin given to boys in the Top 200, including the likes of Rory, Finn, Patrick and Callum, with Rory ranking highest at number 39.

In order to conduct the research, Spin Genie analysed the names that made the top 200 in both the separate boys and girls categories in the latest report from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
From the research, it seems names of Irish origin are a lot more popular for boys, than they are for girls!
