With university students back in West Yorkshire, and freshers week starting in the cities, such as Leeds, people are urged to watch out for the signs on spiking.

In particular, vape spiking is on the rise. Liz Pickering from The Egalitarian said people are being more creative with spiking others.

The group, founded in Leeds have created a spike reporting system, nationally. They believe the more people who report their experiences with spiking, the more likely it will become a criminal offence.

Liz said: "Something we're seeing a lot is vape spiking at the minute. Where people either lace a vape and pass it out, and say 'do you want to try this flavour' or they'll take somebody else's vape, covertly spike it, and sort of pass it back. So that's something to be aware of."

The signs to look out for, if you or someone you're with have been spiked includes: Paranoia, sudden loss of control of your arms and legs, and an inability to speak.
