Stranger Things star video calls girl orphaned following horror crash
Organisers of a fundraiser say it's put a "huge smile" on her face
A girl whose entire family were killed in a horror crash on the A61 between Wakefield and Barnsley has received a video call from one of her favourite Hollywood stars.
According to a fundraiser update, Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven in hit Netflix show Stranger Things, held a call with the 11-year-old Tuesday.
It followed a plea on the fundraiser page for help getting in touch with the stars of the show, following the crash.
The update said: "Millie was absolutely amazing and super supportive.
"While the girls were a bit shy during the call, they went absolutely crazy with excitement afterward and couldn’t stop talking about Millie and the wonderful experience.
"This has truly put a huge smile on Poppie’s face and has been a bright spot during this challenging time."
The girl's parents, Shane Roller and Shannen Morgan, died alongside her two younger sisters Rubie and Lillie in a collision on the A61 on July 21.
A married couple, Christopher and Janine Barton, who were on a motorbike, were also killed in the crash.
Nearly £400,000 has since been raised for the 11-year-old.
Organisers said: "We, along with Poppie’s aunt, will soon be meeting with a financial advisor to ensure the money is managed properly.
"We are committed to handling the donations responsibly, with all funds going directly towards Poppie's well-being and future.
"We appreciate all the advice and concerns shared about setting up a trust fund, and we want to reassure everyone that the funds will be safeguarded for Poppie’s needs."
