Man in life-threatening condition after being hit by car at Normanton petrol station

Police are appealing for witnesses after a staff member was seriously injured

A man is in a life threatening condition in hospital after being hit by a car at a petrol station in Normanton.

The victim, who is a staff member at the Esso petrol station on Castleford Road, was seriously injured after attempting to stop a black Audi driving off without paying.

It happened at 2:22am yesterday (October 20).

An 18 year old man from the Essex area has been arrested, and a vehicle recovered by police.

Another man, who's 31, has been arrested in London and is in custody.

Detective Inspector Heather Shearer, of West Yorkshire Police, said: “This is an extremely serious incident which has left a man who was doing his job in hospital in a critical condition.

“We have extensive enquiries ongoing to identify those involved and are keen to speak with anyone who has any information that could assist us in our ongoing enquiries.”
