Hospitality industry in West Yorkshire welcoming tax cuts but say it was desperately needed
People in hospitality in West Yorkshire are welcoming some relief on the industry, including a cut to alcohol duty on draught beer
The Chancellor, Rachel Reeves announced in the Budget that there's going to be a cut to duty of draught alcohol.
While it's being welcomed by many in the industry, a bartender in Halifax has told us only a it's a step in the right direction.
Since the covid pandemic, bars and pubs have faced many challenges.
Lindon Nugent works at Dukes in Halifax, he told us: "I feel the hospitality industry and beer specifically is such an important part for the UK, and it's been left behind.
"Due to all these factors like taxes, electricity increases, the price of beer has shot up, which means a lot of people not coming out as much."
Meanwhile, the retail, hospitality and leisure industry will receive 40% relief on business rates from 2025/26.
