More than 80% of services that previously ran from Bradford's Interchange bus station will return to the travel hub when it reopens in the new year.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority says a total of 47 services will return, comprising the 'vast majority' of routes which previously departed from the site.

Extra staff will also be deployed for the reopening date on January 5th.

The transport hub, which also includes a station, was partially closed in January after a large chunk of concrete was found to have fallen out of the underground car park ceiling, located directly beneath the bus station.

The surveys determined the station could safely reopen.

All of the bus services have since been re-directed to nearby stops.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority commissioned an expert structural engineer to examine the decision and the overall condition of the building.

Mayor of West Yorkshire Tracy Brabin said:

“The return of bus services to the Interchange is really welcome news for passengers in Bradford.

“We know it’s been a tough year for bus users in the city and I’d like to thank them once again for their patience.

“Public safety will continue to be our number one priority as we work to bring all services back to the Interchange in the coming months.”
